Here’s the first of my “Olypmics” pieces. I’ve done four in all - some have been found already, and some haven’t. I’ll be revealing them all here on Tumblr.
The Olympics is a bit of an odd one isn’t it? I was rubbish at sports as a lad, always picked last for the teams. One time I forgot my PE kit and Mr. Sandy made me play in my tight white y-fronts.
Everyone laughed and called me pantsman, although the joke was on them a couple of years later when he got done for some kind of incident that happened when he was still a Scoutmaster. Bit of an odd bloke that one.
I do love Mr. Brainwash - or Thierry as his friends call him. Filming him for my little film project “Exit through the Gift Shop” was a lot of fun!
I quite like this Tumblr as well - I’m actually more a pie-and-a-pint man myself so I won’t be going to any of these cool bars, but their taste in art is clearly very good.
Mr. Brainwash hardly needs an introduction. Rumours and contradictions swirl around his background, history and creative process, and many believe he’s a hoax figure, a barbed lampoon aimed at the pretentious heart of art world’s commodification of graffiti.
Whether or not that’s true…
I painted this to make a subtle point - that not every piece of street art out there is a Banksy. Even though, it’s ironic because I am Banksy and so all the pieces that I paint actually are Banksys!
It gets a bit confusing. Other people are doing some good stuff though.
This Twitter feed isn’t me by the way, even though it’s called “Banksy Ideas”. I don’t think people should be allowed to take on other people’s identities like this. I’d report him if I wasn’t anonymous!
Some of the ideas on there aren’t bad, mind you. Might even copy a couple!
A lot of people are asking if this was me - it was! This actually isn’t anything political, I just say the opportunity for a bit of light comedy. Plus I genuinely do prefer a nice trim, the wife always keeps hers very neat. Not too much though, that’s a bit weird isn’t it, if it’s completely bare?
I know you won't publish my last comment so that your followers will realise your not banksy. Further proof of your guilt.
Literally just published it, take a look! If you can’t take criticism how can you take freedom?
P.s. it’s “you’re” in this context. You can’t write as many slogans as I do and not be anal about grammar!
Your clearly not banksy he already has a website and has stated that anyone pretending to be him on social networking sites isn't him. Secondly, if you were going to pretend to be someone your not in order to amuse yourself you might want to research a bit more precisely into the person your attempting to be. Maybe writing in a similar manner as them would be a good start. As well as this at least try to make the page appear consistent to his style and website.
Check again sailor! I’m not on Facebook or Twitter, Tumblr is very different to those sites. That’s why were here isn’t it?
I have a confession to make as well - I didn’t write my website, I’m heavily dyslexic so I got my Pest Control team to do that. Can I just say though - I know you’re suspicious and mistrustful because you’re a big fan so I’m not offended, I just really appreciate your support.
The irony of this one is that these actually exist now! Leake Street Tunnels down by Waterloo is a good example, although I never paint there myself - too busy and it’s a long journey from Hadley Wood.
Mind you, when I first put this up a couple of young lads got pinched by the fuzz for painting there, which I thought was a bit unfair. You never can tell with the police.
